Emily Asaro


Emily grew up in a small beach town in New Jersey. She spent her childhood taking art classes, devouring the children's section of the library, gardening with her parents, and adventuring in the sand dunes with her two sisters. She was always surrounded by oodles of picture books and was encouraged to foster her creativity as an artist and storyteller.
 
Emily works in traditional mediums such as marker, ink, and watercolor creating lively scenes with loveable characters in gestural, playful line. She earned her BFA in Illustration and Animation from California State University, Fullerton and spent several years working in the animation industry before returning her focus to her first love; writing and illustration children's books. She is absolutely thrilled she now has a tiny sidekick who provides daily inspiration for her art and helps check out as many picture books as possible on her library card.
 
While not making art, Emily is most likely drinking a large iced coffee while searching for the best playgrounds around Los Angeles with her husband and young son.
